He is listed in the March 2, 1917 edition of The Viscount Sunas one of the men from the Viscount District to have enlisted. SWIGGUM, Christian “Chris” WWI Chris was born on April 2, 1898 or on February 28, 1899 in Wisconsin, USA. His father’s name was Eric. Chris was underage when he first enlisted in Saskatoon, SK with the 223rd Battalion on May 19, 1916. He went overseas for 11 months and served as a bugler. He re-enlisted on June 9, 1917, again in Saskatoon, and was discharged on August 31, 1917. Chris’s brother, Joseph, also enlisted. After his discharge, Chris returned to farming in the districts of Viscount, then Meacham and finally Choiceland. He married Madeleine Reiber and they raised four children. Chris died in September 1973. SWIGGUM, Joseph WWI Joseph was born on December 12, 1895 in Neodah, Wisconsin, USA. Joseph was a single farmer from the Peterson area when he signed up on December 18, 1917 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He joined the 12 M.D., 4th Company, 1st Depot Battalion of the Saskatchewan Regiment and served in World War I. His father was Erick of Wakaw.
