The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 397 STOGRAN (nee MORELLI), Helen Virginia WWII Helen was born on September 10, 1923 in Plunkett, SK where she attended the Badger and Plunkett schools. She enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in 1942 and served in Canada during World War II. She enjoyed playing softball even while in the Army. Helen married Mitch Stogran and they raised one daughter. After her discharge, they tried farming for a couple of years then moved to Penticton, BC where they lived the remainder of their lives. Helen loved to travel. She died on October 15, 1994. STREETON, Walter Gilbert “Gib” WWII Gib was born in Plunkett, SK on November 28, 1919. He took his schooling at Eltham, south of Plunkett, helped on the family farm and enjoyed sports, especially hockey and baseball. In April 1941, he joined the Selective Service and went to Regina, SK for a twomonth training program. He volunteered for the Army and was put into the Canadian Artillery. He went next to McDonald, Manitoba and while there, applied for the Royal Canadian Air Force. He served overseas from 1943 until August 1945. While in the forces, Gib married Frances ‘Fran’ Bucholski and they raised two children. He died on April 3, 1977. SUMMERS, Victor Lionel WWI Victor was born on July 23, 1887 in Clapham, England. Before enlisting to serve in World War I, he was farming in the Eigenheim district of Viscount, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in Watrous, SK on October 28, 1916 and served in France as a Private with the 28th Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. Victor was 31 years old when he was killed in action on August 9, 1918 at Somme, France. He is buried at Rosières Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
