The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 367 RUSSELL, W. Andrew “Andy” WWII Andy was born in 1918 and arrived in Viscount from Jansen in 1927. He graduated from a Viscount school in 1936, took Normal Training then taught at country schools until his enlistment in 1941. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, trained as a pilot in Canada and served in Canada, Ireland, England and India on the Burmese front. He retired in 1945 with the rank of Lieutenant and after his discharge, obtained his B.S.C.A. from the University of Saskatchewan. He worked as a Horticulturist and Potato Breeder in the Research Branch of Ag Canada for thirty-four years, retiring in 1982. After raising five children, Andy and Evelyn ‘Lynn’ are now living in Indian Head, SK. SAICH, Alexander James WWI & WWII Alexander was born in Brixton, Surrey, England in 1883 and came to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1919. He served in the Army and the Navy in Canada during WWI and WWII. Alexander was a Captain, then a Major, with the Royal Canadian Dental Corps. He married and had one child. Alexander’s ashes were committed to the sea after his death in 1962. SAICH, James WWII James was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan in 1918. He joined the Canadian Army and served as a Lieutenant in Canada during WWII. After his discharge, he worked as a liquor store vendor, married and had 3 children. James retired in Regina.
