The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 353 RICHARDSON, John WWI John served in the Army in World War I. He is one of the men who signed up from Saskatchewan’s Viscount District, as listed in the March 2, 1917 edition of The Viscount Sun. RING, Ralph John WWII Ralph lived with his family in Viscount, SK from 1930 to 1939 when they moved to Meacham. He took his schooling at St. Alphonse in Viscount and his dad, Joe, operated the butcher shop. Ralph joined the Canadian Armoured Corps and served as a Trooper with the Lord Strathcona Horse (Royal Canadians) of the 2nd Armored Regiment in Italy during World War II. He was killed in action there on May 24, 1944 and is buried at Cassino War Cemetery in the Province of Frosinone, Italy. A geo-memorial is named in his honour in Saskatchewan: Ring Island, in eastern Cree Lake, at (74G8) 57o 29’ 106o 13’. ROBBESTAD, David WWII David joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II and served for a short time. He lived south of Viscount, Saskatchewan.
