The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 33 BALLOWAY, Alexander WWI Alexander was born in Austria on March 2, 1894. He joined the Army on October 12, 1917 in Saskatoon, SK and served with 12 M.D. 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. Prior to his military service, he was single and an auto mechanic. His father, John, lived at Stornoway, SK. In 1920, The Royal Canadian Legion Viscount Branch was sent a service recognition pin to present to Alexander but he never returned to Viscount to receive it. He was a member of Lanigan Legion Branch. BARRAND (nee DOLPHIN), Fern WWII Fern was born in 1921 in Meacham, SK and took her schooling at York and Meacham. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941, served in World War II and was discharged in 1945. Fern married George Barrand and raised four children. She passed away in 1971. BARRAND, William George Henry WWII George was born in Meacham, SK on February 6, 1925. After joining the Royal Canadian Air Force and serving in London, England, he worked as a mechanical supervisor for the Canadian Pacific Railway for over thirty years. George had four children and was a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge and Lanigan Legion Branch. He was also active in the Anglican Church in Lanigan and Humboldt. George passed away on October 19, 2008.
