The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 337 PIATT, Leonard Ivory “Ike” WWI Ike was born on March 10, 1887 in Shelbyville, Indiana, USA. His father’s name was Simon Augusta Piatt and Ike started farming in the Viscount, SK area before enlisting in the Army in Saskatoon, SK on December 22, 1914. His brother, Stanley, also enlisted. Ike served as a Gunner in Europe where he was wounded in battle. After the war, he returned to Saskatchewan and started farming in the Hazel Dell area where he met and married an Easterlea school teacher. They went to England to live. PIATT, Stanley Alven WWI Stanley was born on August 18, 1896 in Shelbyville, Indiana, USA. He enlisted in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 17, 1917 and served in World War I. Stanley was a farm laborer from the Viscount area and was single at the time of his enlistment. His brother, Ike, also enlisted. PICHETTE, Wilfred William “Wilf” WWII Wilf was born on March 20, 1902 in LeRoy, North Dakota, USA and he served in the Army in World War II. Wilf and his wife, Alice, lived in Saskatchewan but moved from Lestock to Viscount just after the war. They raised four children. Wilf took the position of telephone linesman for the Viscount Rural Telephone Company and his philosophy was to buy local to support the community you live in. He passed away on March 25, 1973 in Viscount.
