The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 329 PEARCE, Leonard “Len” WWII Len was born in Plunkett, SK on December 12, 1918. He grew up on a farm north of Plunkett and went to school at Easterlea. He enlisted in the Army and took his basic training but was given a medical discharge. Len then went to work in the shipyards in Vancouver, British Columbia. He married Maggie Menzies and they raised three children. PEARCE, Robert A. “Bob” WWII Bob was born in Plunkett, SK and he attended the Glynfield country school, north of Plunkett. He was a teacher before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he served as a pilot instructor during World War II. After his discharge, he continued teaching at Brooks, Alberta then at Dorval, Quebec until he retired in 1980. He then remained in Dorval. Bob raised three children with his wife, Doris Edwards. PEIRSON, Frederick Allen “Fred” WWI & WWII Fred was born on July 14, 1887 in Wellingborough, Northampton, England. He came to Manitoba in 1905 and homesteaded in the Invermay area in 1908. He married Mrs. Lena Grant, who had one son and they had three more children. In 1914, he joined the 214 Battalion of the Canadian Army but was medically discharged in 1916. Fred and his three brothers, Robert Shepherd, John Roland and William Henry, enlisted at different times. In 1926, the family moved to Viscount, SK and he worked for E.A. Hannigan until he joined the Veterans Guard Unit of the Army, serving in Canada from 1942 to 1945. He then worked at Beaver Lumber in Viscount until his health failed and he died in 1955.
