The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 325 PADDLE, Walter WWI Walter was born in England in 1892. He came to Canada in 1907 and to Spalding, Saskatchewan in 1912. Walter joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force during WWI and served with the 53rd Battalion, Saskatchewan Timberwolves, in Canada and France. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Medal from France. Walter married, had 4 children, and died in 1990. He is buried in Duncan, British Columbia. PALFY, Mickey WWII Mickey was born in 1918 in Viscount, SK and he went to school just south of there, at Golden Hill. He joined the Army in March 1942 and served in Canada as a Private during World War II. After his discharge in June 1945, Mickey lived and farmed all his life in the Viscount area. He married Margaret Duh, raised four children and retired from the farm in the spring of 1977. He built a new home in Viscount and he passed away in September 1980. PARIS, Sydney Archibald WWI Sydney was born on May 1, 1880 in Portsmouth, England. He took up a homestead in the Kildrum district of Saskatchewan and was a cook by trade prior to joining the Army in Calgary, AB on January 1, 1915. Sydney’s mother, Mary Paris, lived in Bruno, SK. Sydney had also served six years in the West Surrey in England. Sydney has been married.
