The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 29 AYREY, Alderson WWI Alderson was born in Darlington, Durham, England on August 24, 1894. He was a farmer from Senlac, Saskatchewan, where his father lived. Alderson enlisted on December 30, 1915 in Saskatoon, SK and served in World War I. BAKER, Frank WWII Frank was born in Plunkett, SK in January 1912, the eldest son of George and Elizabeth Baker. After leaving school, he worked for various farmers as well as in gold mines at Red Lake, ON during the depression. Two other siblings served in the Armed Forces during WWII: Harold in the RCAF and his sister, Pat, in the Army. Frank joined the Army and served in England, Belgium, and Holland where he met his wife, Julie. After the war, Frank returned home to purchase a farm at Carragana, SK and after his retirement, he was postmaster there for ten years. Harold and Julie then retired to Edmonton, AB and they are both buried in the Plunkett Cemetery. Harold died in May 1990. BAKER, Harold WWII Harold was born in Plunkett, SK in 1916. One of nine children, he attended the Badger and Glynfield country schools north of Plunkett. He joined his brother, Frank, at the Red Lake gold mine in Ontario before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force and serving as a Corporal in Ontario and Iceland. After his discharge, he opened a dry cleaning plant in Toronto and married Tory Hunt with whom he had three children. Harold passed away in 1964.
