The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 23 ARMATAGE, Donald WWII Donald was born near Plunkett, Saskatchewan and he attended the nearby Eltham School. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served in the Provost Corps before being discharged in 1945. His two brothers, Trenholm and Linton, also served their country and Linton was killed in action. After his military service, Donald married Agnes Gunther and they had two children. He is now retired and living in Kincardine, Ontario. ARMATAGE, Linton Charles WWII Linton was born in Plunkett, SK and went to school at Eltham, then Lanigan. He was working for Macdonalds Consolidated and had married Dorothy Webb with whom he had a daughter, Diana, before he was killed overseas. Linton joined the Army in 1940 and served as a Corporal with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and was killed on the beach in Normandy, France on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He is buried at Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery near Reviers, Calvados, France. His two brothers, Donald (Army) and Trenholm (RCAF), also served. A geo-memorial in northern Saskatchewan has been named in his honour: Armatage Bay, on the north shore of Cree Lake, at (74G9) 57o 41’ 106o 19’. ARMATAGE, Trenholm WWII Trenholm was born in Plunkett, Saskatchewan and attended area country schools in Eltham and Attica. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a transport command pilot, flying planes from Montreal to every continent of the world. After his military service, he became a Chrysler dealer in Lanigan, SK and married Bessie Lawrence with whom he raised three children. He is now retired, alternating between his condo in Ottawa and his home in Florida.
