The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 243 LOROFF, Anthony “Tony” WWII Tony was born on December 19, 1919 in Viscount, SK and went to school at nearby Auckland. He joined the Army in 1940 and served in Regina, SK and in Alberta, in Calgary and at the Suffield Experimental station near Medicine Hat. He married Esther Ruck in 1943 and was discharged in 1945. After his dad died, Tony ran the family farm until 1959, when he moved to Medicine Hat, AB. He began working for the city as an equipment operator and after 20 years, took early retirement. After raising two children, Tony and Esther now enjoy camping and motor home traveling. LOVE, Dr. Richard Holden WWI Dr. Love was born in 1877 in Carlton Place, Ontario. He completed his early education there and received his doctor credentials from McGill University in 1899. He practiced in Thompson, North Dakota, USA until he moved to Viscount, SK in 1907 where he became the first doctor. He was also the village’s first overseer, from 1909 to 1911, and then he moved to Saskatoon, SK. Dr. Love married Grace Emma Burrows in 1910 and he served in the Medical Corps during World War I. Dr. Love died on January 27, 1926. LOWES, Robert WWII Robert was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada with Aero Engineers, Group A. Robert was a life-long farmer and he died in 2004.
