The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 209 KLUKEWICH, Peter WWI Peter’s father, Andrew, came to Meacham, SK from Austria. Peter was born on July 20, 1898 and he grew up on the family farm, just south of Meacham. He joined the Army in Dana, SK on April 13, 1916 and served overseas with the Forestry Company. After his discharge, he returned to the farm. Peter died in 1920, as a result of being gassed during the war. He was only twenty-four. KNUCKEY, Byron Walter WWI Byron was born in Sutton, Quebec on February 26, 1894. He homesteaded before enlisting in the Army in Saskatoon, SK on October 5, 1915. His nephew, John Knuckey, enlisted in World War II. Bryon homesteaded in the Viscount District and after his discharge, continued farming. He has passed away. KNUCKEY, John WWII John was born in Viscount, SK and he went to school there. He joined the Army in 1939 and served in World War II. After his discharge in 1945, he farmed in Viscount for a while before going to Fort Nelson, BC to build and operate a laundromat. John passed away in 1978.
