The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 207 KISS, Julius Gasey WWII Julius was born on January 15, 1918 in Plunkett, SK and took his early schooling at Golden Hill, just south of Plunkett. During the depression, the whole family moved to Hamilton, ON for employment opportunities. Julius joined the Army and served with the Essex Scottish Regiment in Europe, where he was wounded. His three brothers also enlisted and served in World War II. Julius married Helen Fazekas and they raised one son. After the war, he worked in the Hamilton area in the auto industry and eventually, his work took him to Detroit, Michigan, where he remained until he retired and passed away in 1996. KISS, Louis Otto WWII Louis was born on March 15, 1914 in Young, SK. He enlisted in the Army on July 3, 1940 in St. Thomas, ON and served as a Private in Canada with the Elgin Regiment, C.A.S.F., “A” Company. His brothers, Julius, Joe, and Gasper, also enlisted. Louis was medically discharged on March 27, 1941, due to a bad ankle. After the war, he returned to Saskatchewan to the Plunkett district and farmed the home place as well as land in the Poplar Park district until he retired to Watrous in 1975. He raised seven children with his wife, Nellie McWillie, and he was a member of Viscount Legion Branch 271. Louis died on March 6, 1990. KLASGES, Donald WWII Donald joined the Army and served as a Sergeant during World War II.
