The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 189 HOWSON, Arnold S. WWII Arnold was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1921. He joined the Army and served from 1941-1945 with the Westminster Motorized Infantry Regiment in Canada, England, Holland, Sicily and Italy. Arnold, a farmer, married and had two children. He was a member of Legion branches in Quill Lake and Regina for a total of thirty-eight years. He died in 1984 and was buried in the Regina Military Cemetery. HOWSON, Gordon PEACETIME Gordon was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1956. He joined the Reserves and served with the North Saskatchewan Regiment during peacetime in Canada and Norway, from 1988-1992. Gordon has been a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for nineteen years. He married and was a farmer. HRYNKIW, Paul WWII Paul was born in Poland in 1924. On April 7, 1943, he joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served as an Antiaircraft Gunner on the Corvette ‘Mayflower’ in Canada, in the British Channel and in the Atlantic. Discharged on November 20, 1945, he was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. His brother, Walter, also enlisted. Paul raised a son with his wife, Edith Coldham, and he operated a café and store in Plunkett before being employed by the Department of Highways in Rosetown, where he now lives. Hockey and baseball were his sports of choice. Paul was a member of Viscount Legion Branch 271.
