He helped farm and operate his dad’s butcher shop in Plunkett before enlisting and serving under the name Howath. His two brothers, Bill and Ross, also enlisted. Alex served with the Algonquin Regiment of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps in France. He was killed in action in France on August 21, 1944 and is buried in the Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in Calvados, France. There is a geomemorial named in his honour: Horvath Lake, west of Reindeer Lake in Saskatchewan, at (64D14) 56o 51’103o 27’. HORVATH, Ross WWII Ross was born in Plunkett, Saskatchewan. He farmed and helped his dad in the butcher shop before enlisting and serving in World War II. His two brothers, Bill and Alex, also enlisted. HORVATH, William “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Plunkett, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army on November 21, 1942 and served with the Edmonton Fusiliers, then was discharged on November 13, 1946. His two brothers, Ross and Alex, also enlisted. Bill was a truck driver and was a member of Viscount Legion Branch 271.
