The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 175 HAUGH, John “Jack” WWII Jack joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Holland, Italy, and in France in the Dieppe raid. After his discharge, he began working for the Royal Bank, becoming a bank manager in Regina and then moving to Surrey, BC in the early 1960s where he retired in the late 1970s. He married Mary Kolstad and adopted one son. Mary’s brothers, Carl, Arnold, Gus, Les and her sister, Avis, also enlisted in the Forces. HAUGRUD, Ebert C. WWII Ebert was born in Viscount, SK on February 14, 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served four years as an Aero Engine mechanic. Discharged in the fall of 1945, he then farmed in the Viscount area until 1972, when he retired to Saskatoon. There he became a general contractor, building houses as well as some commercial structures. He married Norma Njaa and they raised five children. HAUGRUD, Gunnar WWII Gunnar was born on July 28, 1923 on a farm in Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in World War II. After his military service, he obtained his engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He worked in the oil patch, eventually founding his own company, Viking Oil and Gas. Gunnar had three children with his wife, Rose, and he passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on February 28, 2006.
