The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 169 HALLIDAY, Rose A. WWII Rose was born in England in 1901 but came to live in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1927. She joined the Royal Canadian Women’s Army Corps and served as a Corporal in Canada from 1943-44. She married and had four children. Rose died in 1974 and was buried in Riverside Memorial Park in Regina, Saskatchewan. HALLIDAY, Thomas W. WWII Thomas was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1925. He joined the Army and served at No. 12 District Depot in Regina from 19431946. He married but had no children. Thomas died in 1977 and was buried in Regina, Saskatchewan. HANNIGAN, Ernest Garth “Garth” WWII Garth was born on July 17, 1918 in Viscount, SK and attended school there. He worked on the farm then went to Welland, Ontario in 1942 and attended Business College for six months before signing up. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy on the hospital ship Lady Nelson until the war was over. After his discharge, he returned to the farm at Viscount and in 1951, he moved to Big River where he specialized in hog farming. He retired in 1977 married Ellen Philstrom in 1981.
