The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 155 GOVAN, Thomas WWI & WWII Thomas was born in Scotland in 1895. He served in WWI and WWII in Canada, England, France, Belgium and Germany. In WWI, he was wounded while with the Army’s 5th Platoon, 214th Battalion and also suffered from war gas. In WWII, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Thomas moved to the Valley Plain district and married Caroline Walters with whom he had four children. He was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for thirty-five years and died in 1981. GRAF, Andy WWII Andy was born in Viscount, Saskatchewan and he attended Lucasville School. With his brothers, Tom and Joe, he joined the Army and served in World War II. Andy was married to Ruth. GRAF, Joseph H. “Joe” WWII Joe was born in Viscount, Saskatchewan and he attended Lucasville School, north of Viscount. Joe and his brothers, Tom and Andy, were drafted into the Army and they served in World War II. Joe raised two girls with his wife, Rose, and he farmed for a while in Cranish Lake, east of the Lucasville area. He owned a garage in Bruno for a while before moving out to Osoyoos, BC where he bought a garage and did mechanical work.
