The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 135 FIRMAN, George WWII George joined the Army and served as a Private during World War II. He married Reta Wiley whose brother, Jim Wiley, was killed in action. Reta’s parents lived in Plunkett, then in Viscount, Saskatchewan. Her dad, Fred, was an electrician. George and Reta lived and worked in Saskatoon, SK. FISHER, Cecil Lloyd WWII Cecil was born into a farming family in Watrous, north of Little Manitou Lake, Saskatchewan. He attended the Plymouth county school. He joined the Army on January 15, 1943 in Regina, SK and served as a Private in Regina, Kingston, ON, and in Victoria, Prince George and Prince Rupert, BC. Discharged on July 23, 1945, he continued farming in the district. With his wife, Annabelle, he raised two children. Cecil has passed away. FLEMING, John Thomas “Tom” WWI & WWII Tom was born in Quebec on October 5, 1885. He served in the Army during WWI and then re-enlisted for WWII but was too old to go overseas. He became part of the Veteran’s Guard at an internment camp in British Columbia. His brother, Pat, and his nephews, Ken and Bill Fleming, served in WWII and his other brother, Pete, enlisted in WWI. Tom married Margaret and they farmed in the Viscount, SK district, then in the 30s, moved to farm in the Porcupine Plain area. They moved permanently to BC where he worked as lumberjack. Tom and Margaret raised a family of four. He died at his home in Winfield, BC in August 1968.
