John took his early schooling at Badger School and then went to high school in Plunkett. John married Nina Klimuk. In the early years, John worked in Ontario bush camps in the winter and farmed in the summer. Then he was employed at Federated Co-op in Saskatoon, SK. John joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and was discharged in March 1946. John married Lena and they had five children. They farmed at Plunkett and later in the 1960s, moved to Makwa then retired to Meadow Lake, SK. John’s cousin, Mike Dopko, also enlisted. DOPKO, Michael “Mike” WWII Michael was born on September 15, 1917 in Plunkett, SK, where he attended the Badger country school. He joined the Army in 1941 and served in Canada before being discharged in 1942. Mike farmed all of his life north of Plunkett until he retired. He married Annie Hnatiw and they raised seven children. He was a school trustee, school bus driver and also worked in Manitoba for Crowly Maeracklin Catering from 1972-78. Mike and John Dopko were cousins. Mike passed away on May 3, 2005. DREDIGEUR, Abraham WWII Abraham was born on July 19, 1919 and grew up on the family farm, south of Plunkett, SK in the Poplar Park School area where he obtained his elementary education. He married Bertha Epp in 1941 and they raised one daughter. Abraham joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Ontario in the Air Force mechanical unit. He passed away on July 7, 2002.
