The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 55 CREELMAN (nee DAWES), Phoebe WWII Phoebe was born in the area of Eltham, near Plunkett, SK. She went to school at the Eltham country school and did the usual farm work while growing up. She was in the Royal Canadian Navy for two and a half years and married Allan Creelman while stationed at Victoria, BC. He was also serving in the Navy. They later resided in Vancouver, BC. Phoebe’s father, Arthur Dawes, was in WWI. CRIPPS, Ewart William WWII Ewart was born in London, England in 1906. He joined the Army and served with the 65th Battery of the 5th Anti-Tank Regiment. He served in Sicily, Italy, France, Germany, and Belgium before being sent to Holland with the 1st Canadian Army. He was one of the Three Star Veterans and was discharged in 1945. Ewart was a member of RCL Prince Albert Branch 2 for twenty years and he died in 1989. CROWE, Arthur B. WWI Arthur was born on March 5, 1877 in Claremont, Minnesota. In 1903, he married Lionne Parker and they emigrated from Nebraska to Vermilion, AB with their five children in 1913. After joining the Army in North Battleford, SK on September 2, 1916, he moved the family to Prince Albert, SK. Arthur was a Private with the 46th Canadian Battalion and served in Holland, Germany and France where he injured his back in Vimy. After his discharge in 1918, he farmed and broke green horses on land north of Prince Albert, SK. He and his wife raised nine children. His two sons, Robert and Perry, enlisted in WWII. Arthur was a member of RCL Christopher Lake Branch 159 and he died on July 3, 1942.
