The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 39 BUMBY, John Forrest “Jack” WWII Jack was born in Glenbow, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 27, 1941 and served as an AC2 (mechanic) in Canada for the duration of the war. He was discharged on September 11, 1945 but continued in the military for twenty years until his retirement in Richmond, BC. Jack married Eunice Udell of Viscount, SK and they raised six children. They have both since died. Jack was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was also a member of RCL Viscount Branch 271. BURR, Edward WWI Edward was born on March 19, 1878 in Markham, ON. He was a farmer from Viscount, SK and had a brother, Joseph, also from Viscount. Before enlisting in the Army in Saskatoon, SK on May 24, 1916, he had served four years as G.G. Bodyguard. Edward was discharged on December 25, 1916. BZDEL, Thomas “Tom” WWII Thomas was born on April 16, 1923 in Elfros, Saskatchewan. He enlisted on August 4, 1941 and was assigned to the 4th Division Ammunition Company with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, first serving in Canada. He was responsible for transporting ammunition, civilians and troops throughout the United Kingdom, North Africa, CentralMediterranean and Continental Europe. Tom was honoured with the 193945 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Discharged in December 1945, Thomas returned home, purchased farmland near Wishart, SK and raised four daughters with his wife, Stella. He was an active member of RCL Wishart Branch 305 for fifty-one years and instilled strong Legion traditions. His wife, daughters and their families are associate members. Thomas passed away on May 20, 2009.
