The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 401 WAGNER, Walter Maxwell “Mac” WWII Mac was born in Craik, SK on March 8, 1920. He was educated at Viscount and excelled at hockey as a youth. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and served in Canada and overseas. He trained at the Aeronautic School at Tech in Saskatoon before going to Toronto and serving at several stations in Ontario. Sent overseas in 1945, he was in England just a few months before peace was signed and he came home. His cousins, Rodger and Glen Wagner, also enlisted but served in peacetime. After his discharge, Mac went to Luseland, where his father and family had moved and he was in the Home Hardware and furniture business there until he retired. Mac married Evelyn Sexsmith from Viscount, and they had three children. WALKER, Robert Hayes “Pat” WWII Pat was born on November 23, 1911 and was raised on a farm in the Colonsay, SK district. After attending school at Nicklet, he worked in northern Alberta with a fish freighting company and at a sawmill in northern Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in 1940 and served as a Sergeant in Sicily, Italy, France, England, Germany, Africa, and Holland. He was awarded three Campaign Stars and the Canadian Service Volunteer Medal. He had married Jean Neish from Viscount, SK and had one daughter before going overseas. Four more children were born after his discharge in 1945. Pat farmed for a time and then worked for the Wheat Pool construction company for seventeen years. They retired to Colonsay where he was a Life Member of RCL Colonsay Branch 345. He died in October 1992. WALLIN, William Marlin WWII William was born in Fort McLeod, Alberta in 1925. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Regina on November 9, 1943 and served in Edmonton with the 3rd Regiment in Vancouver, British Columbia and #10 Regiment in Calgary, Alberta. He trained as an Air Gunner, and graduated as Sergeant Air Gunner. He retrained in Mount Pleasant, Prince Edward Island and was sent to Rockcliffe, Ontario. William was discharged in 1945. William now lives in Wadena, Saskatchewan and is very active as a Life Member of Wadena Branch 62 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
