The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 387 SYLVESTRE, Lucien Victor WWII Lucien was born in Bellegarde, Saskatchewan in 1924. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Regina Rifles in Continental Europe. Lucien has been a member of Saskatchewan’s Storthoaks /Redvers Branch 293 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 10 years. TALLON, Esther Mary WWII Esther was born on May 18, 1922 in Viscount, Saskatchewan. She took her early schooling in Viscount and went to high school at Sacred Heart in Regina, SK. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps on March 25, 1942 and served in Canada and England. She was awarded the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. After her discharge on June 26, 1946, she was appointed postmistress of Viscount, a post she held until her retirement in 1964. Esther became a member of RCL Viscount Branch 271 in 1947 and is a Life Member. She received her 50-year Service Medal and a Certificate of Merit and was past secretary/treasurer and past president. She made her home in Saskatoon. TELFER, Andrew Black Craig WWII Andrew was born on November 27, 1916 in Shevlin, Manitoba and was the oldest of three brothers who went to war. His brothers were Gordon and Robert. Andrew joined the Army in 1939 and served in England, Holland and Belgium with the Yorkton Anti-Aircraft Battery. He was discharged in 1946 and then worked many years on the CN Railroad as a decks and bridges foreman. His next job took him to Fort Nelson, British Columbia, where he was the town foreman. From there, he retired to the farm he and his wife purchased at Clayhurst, BC, not too far from Dawson Creek. He was a member of RCL Legion Branch 63 in Saskatoon, SK and in Dawson Creek Branch 141 in BC. He died on January 14, 1987.
