The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 383 SWANSON, Stanley WWII Stanley was born in Guernsey, Saskatchewan in 1913. He moved from Plunkett to Garrick in 1936 where he found work on farms and in the bush. Garrick is where he enlisted in the Army to serve in World War II. His brother, Bud, also enlisted. Stanley married Doris Gilbert of Garrick and they raised three children. He worked for BA (Gulf Oil) in Nipawin, SK for thirty-two years before he retired. SWANSON, Vernon “Bud” WWII Bud was born in Guernsey, Saskatchewan in 1917 and he went to school at Plunkett. He enlisted in Nipawin, SK in 1940 and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. His brother, Stan, also enlisted. After his discharge, Bud was employed by B.A. (Golf Oil) out of Regina and Calgary, AB for thirty-three years until he and his wife retired in 1979 to Winfield, British Columbia. Bud raised two children with his wife, Eva Kozak. SWIGGUM, Alexander “Alex” WWI Alex served in the Army during World War I. He is listed in the March 2, 1917 edition of The Viscount Sunas one of the men from the Viscount district to have enlisted.
