The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 359 ROPER, Thomas “Tom” WWII Tom was born in Salisbury, England and came to Canada with his family on June 27, 1927. They started farming on NW 20-34-24W2, near Plunkett, SK. His trade in England was that of a painter and decorator. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and served in World War II. His brother, Ron enlisted too as did his first cousins, Jim, Bert, Ernest and Reg Roper. Tom was overseas for five years, married while there, and resumed his trade in Crystal Beach, Ontario after returning to Canada. He also worked at the Fleet Aircraft Factory as a painter for thirteen years. Tom raised three children and he passed away in 1962. RUCKLE, Paul A. WWII Paul was born in Raymore, Saskatchewan in 1922. He enlisted in the Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Canada and England. Paul has been a member of Raymore Branch 171 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 42 years. RUSSELL, Arthur WWII Arthur was born in Jansen, Saskatchewan and moved with his family to the Viscount Area in 1927 where he also attended school. He served in World War II and was one of five siblings who enlisted.
