The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 345 RAAFLAUB (nee WOOLLEY), Joyce Irene WWII Joyce was born on June 16, 1921 in Meacham, SK and went to school at York and Meacham. She lived on the farm before enlisting in Saskatoon along with her sister, Edna, and their cousin, Joe Fleming. Joyce joined the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force and served in Canada as a stenographer. With her husband, Harvey Raaflaub, she raised five children and they ran a grocery business in Bracebridge, Ontario. They still reside there. Joyce and her cousin, Joe Fleming, married people from the same town in Ontario and where they stayed to raise their families. RADLIFF, Frank WWII Frank was born in Elm Creek, Manitoba. He spent some time working around in Saskatchewan’s Viscount district before his enlistment. He served in World War II and his nephew, Arthur Sexsmith, also enlisted. RAE, Ernest “Ernie” WWII Ernie was born in 1918 in Plunkett, SK. He lived and worked on the farms that his parents had bought and moved to over the years and he went to school at Millerdale, Kerrobert, Edam and Prince. Ernie and his brother, George, both joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. After his discharge, he tried a few jobs and became a sheet metal worker in Saskatoon, SK. He retired and is raising rainbow trout for a hobby. He is secretary-treasurer of Northern Saskatchewan Rainbow Trout Farmers Association. Ernie married Hillary while overseas and they had three children.
