The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 339 PONGRACZ, Frank WWII Frank was born on September 24, 1917 in Plunkett, SK. He went to school there and in Clover Bar. He married Joan Roper and then joined the Army in 1942, serving in the Artillery. His brothers, Joe, Mike and Jim, also enlisted. After his discharge, Frank returned to farming and raised Herefords and registered Angus and Simmental cattle. He farmed and ranched all his life and he raised five children with his wife, Joan. Frank died in April 1973. PONGRACZ, James “Jim” WWII Jim was born in Plunkett, Saskatchewan. He attended the school there and later worked for farmers in the area. He then moved to Prince Rupert and worked on the tug boats and in the halibut fishing industry. His brothers, Mike, Frank and Joe, enlisted to serve in World War II while Jim joined the Royal Canadian Navy. After the war, Jim moved to Vancouver where he continued fishing. He married Ann and they raised two children. PONGRACZ, Joseph “Joe” WWII Joe was born in Plunkett, Saskatchewan. He attended school there and later worked with his brothers, Mike and Frank, pasturing horses and cattle. He joined the Army and served in World War II. His brothers, Frank, Mike and Jim, also enlisted. After the war, he married Josephine Windish and they raised four children. They first farmed in the Arrin district then later moved to Hubbard where the family stayed while Joe worked for the railway in Gimli, Manitoba. Their last move was to Regina, SK.
