The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 285 MARKLEY, John Anthony WWII John was born in Plunkett, SK and grew up on the family farm north of there. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and his brother, Lyall, in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Their father, David, had enlisted in the Army and served in WWI. After his dad died in 1926, John’s brother, Bill, worked the farm until the family moved to Saskatoon. John raised four children with his wife, Ruth Arne. MARKLEY, Lyall Francis WWII Lyall was born in Plunkett, SK. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and his brother, John, served in the Royal Canadian Navy. Their father, David, enlisted in the Army and served in WWI. Their brother, Bill, married Mary Roper, whose brothers, Fred, Reg, Bert and Ernest, also enlisted. Lyall married Nadia Onishenko and they raised a family of ten. McCARTHY, Felix WWII Felix was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia in 1908. He joined the Army and served with the 2nd Infantry Division of the South Saskatchewan Regiment in England and Europe. He was a Life Member of RCL Kyle Branch 124. Felix died in 1999.
