The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 269 KOVACH, William “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Plunkett, SK and went to school there. His three brothers, Ernie, Frank and Jim, enlisted in the Army while he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. Bill lives in Kelowna, BC with his wife Ellen. LAMMING, Edgar “Chip” WWI Chip was born in Leicester, England and came to Canada with his brother, Bill, before WWI. He helped his brother and family on the farm before and after his discharge. Chip went back to England to enlist with the British Army but was wounded and returned to Canada before the war ended. Chip married Hazel DeWolfe, a teacher at the Glynfield country school. LAMMING, Ernest “Togy” WWII Togy, nephew of William and Edgar Lamming, was born in Leicester, England and came to Canada in 1906. He helped his family farm on land north of Plunkett, SK then joined the Navy in 1942, serving till the end of the war. He then worked as a linesman with Bill Lamming and for Imperial Oil in Plunkett before moving to North Battleford, SK where he was employed by the Provincial Hospital. He married Veronica Kiss in 1933 and they raised three children. Over the years, he worked on an irrigation farm near North Battleford, for Kramer’s in Saskatoon, and as an engineer at the salt mine at Unity. He also held other jobs until he died in 1971.
