The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 243 KELLINGTON, Thomas Arthur “Tom” WWII Tom was born on December 7, 1923 in Eston, SK, the son of Thomas and Mabel (Hewlitt) Kellington. He enlisted as Aircraftman in the Royal Canadian Air Force on April 22, 1943 in Saskatoon, SK. He completed initial training in Toronto and St. Thomas, ON and was posted to Lethbridge, AB. He also served on air bases in Assiniboia and Swift Current, SK and Calgary, AB. He was released on March 12, 1946 in Calgary. Tom died on December 12, 1972 in Rosetown, SK. KELLINGTON, Wilfred Pierce WWI & WWII Wilfred was born to James Vines and Anna Laura (McLaughlin) Kellington on January 28, 1896 in Rosedale Municipality, MB and came with his parents and siblings to a homestead at Naicam, SK. On October 27, 1916, he enlisted in Watson, SK as a Private with the 214th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force. While in the trenches in France, he suffered poison gas attacks and was wounded in the head and leg on August 8, 1918. He was released in Regina on January 24, 1919. Wilfred re-enlisted as a Private in the Canadian Army (Active) on July 23, 1940 and was in Halifax, bound for England, when he was found to be too old. He was returned to Regina and transferred to the Canadian Provost Corps. Wilfred was released on medical grounds on April 27, 1942. He passed away while visiting his brother in Red Deer, AB on July 6, 1980 and is interred in the Naicam Cemetery. KELLINGTON, William James “Bill” WWII Bill was born to William Andrew and Caroline (Brautigam) Kellington on January 13, 1914 in Neepawa, MB. He enlisted as a Private in the Canadian Army (Active) on September 20, 1944 at 12 District Depot in Regina, SK. He was initially assigned to the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and posted for basic training to Barriefield, ON where he transferred to the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. In April 1945, he proceeded to Debert, NS and departed for Britain, reporting on May 16, 1945. He returned to Regina and was released on April 23, 1946. Bill was a member of RCL Kerrisdale Branch 30, Vancouver. He died in Vancouver on April 28, 1989 and is interred in Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa.
