The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 235 KELLINGTON, Emerson Bristol WWII Emerson was born on January 18, 1912 in Naicam, SK, the son of James Vines and Anna Laura (McLaughlin) Kellington. He enlisted as Aircraftman in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Regina, SK on December 17, 1940 and completed basic training in Toronto and St. Thomas, ON. He was posted to Britain and joined 405 (City of Vancouver) Squadron in Yorkshire in May 1942. The Squadron repositioned several times and, finally in 1943, became the only RCAF Squadron to serve with 8 Pathfinder Group. Embarked on HMS Aquitania, Emerson returned to Greenwood Air Base in Nova Scotia on June 19, 1945. He was a volunteer for the Pacific Force: however, hostilities in the Far East ended suddenly before that force was committed. He was released in Moncton, NB on September 6, 1945. Emerson was a Life Member of RCL Naicam Branch 218. He passed away in Naicam on September 30, 1999 and is interred in Naicam Cemetery. KELLINGTON, Erling James WWII Erling was born to Clifford and Esther (Lunden) Kellington in Naicam, SK on October 31, 1924. He enlisted as a Private in the Canadian Army (Active) in Vancouver, BC on October 29, 1942. He completed basic training in Vernon, BC and in Calgary and Suffield, AB. He was posted overseas to Britain where he joined his regiment, the Calgary Highlanders. Erling went with his regiment to France where he was killed in action on July 25, 1944. He is interred in the Canadian War Cemetery at Brettevillesur-Laize, Calvados, France. Erling is recorded in the regimental history, “Battalion of Heroes” and is also commemorated on the Roll of Honour of the Scottish National War Memorial housed in Edinburgh Castle. KELLINGTON, Gordon Dennis PEACETIME Gordon was born to Charles and Annie (Mulroney) Kellington on June 12, 1934 in Marquis, Saskatchewan. He enlisted as Aircraftman in the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 4, 1952 and completed basic training in St. Johns, QC and RCAF Station Clinton, ON. In 1953, he was posted to RCAF Station Namao in Edmonton, AB then took voluntary release on October 3, 1955. Gordon died in Vancouver on December 10, 1969.
