The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 229 JEWITT, Lloyd George WWII Lloyd was born to Reuben William and Mary Estella (McRorie) Jewitt in Kincaid, Saskatchewan on January 24, 1914. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) in World War II and served in Hamilton and Kingston, Ontario. Lloyd died on April 8, 1998 in Beaverlodge, Alberta. JOHNSON, Carl John WWII Carl was born in Clay, Minnesota, USA on February 2, 1892 and got his Canadian Citizenship in 1912. He worked in Saskatchewan, first in Admiral then later in Bracken where he was manager of Standard Implement Co. for sixteen years. He was employed with Gilbertson Garage in Frontier, SK when he enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) on July 2, 1943. Carl served with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, posted to Swift Current, then Estevan, SK before going east to Hagersville, ON. He also served in Regina and Maple Creek, SK as well as in Kingston and London, ON. A Sergeant at the time of his discharge in 1958, he received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. Carl was employed at the army camp in Hagersville, ON until his death on May 30, 1962 at age seventy. He was a member of RCL Hagersville Branch 164. JOHNSON, Leland WWII Leland was born on October 17, 1923 in Viscount, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and served in Medicine Hat, AB; Jarvis, ON; Yorkton, SK; and Gimli, MB. In 1944, he went overseas with the 410 Squadron and served at Gilze Rijen, Holland. Leland returned home in July 1945 aboard the HMT Stratheden and was discharged in September 1945. He went to Regina, SK where he worked as a carpenter and in 1948, moved to Lethbridge, AB where he became a construction superintendent with Bird Construction and Westbridge Construction. This career spanned thirty-eight years. He raised three children with his wife, Ruth Skundberg.
