The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 215 HOKANSON, Daryl A. PEACETIME Daryl was born on October 20, 1940 in Saskatoon, SK. He enlisted on August 29, 1959 and served in the Royal Canadian Navy until October 5, 1982. He left the service as Master Seaman and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and Bar as well as the US Navy Unit citation. Daryl married. HOLCOMB, Clyde Ross WWII Clyde was born on April 14, 1924 in Welland, ON and took his schooling at Humberstone, ON. He later worked for Imperial Oil, Robin Hood and Maple Leaf Flour Mills. Clyde married Beula Hannigan of Viscount, SK before enlisting in the Army on July 1, 1944 and serving as a Private with the Infantry in Canada, England, Holland and Germany. He was discharged on July 31, 1946 after spending time with the occupational troops. Clyde was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the France and Germany Star. After the war, he moved his family from Welland to the Viscount area, where he farmed for many years before retiring to Saskatoon. Clyde and Beula raised eight children and he passed away on November 2, 2005. He was a member of RCL Viscount Branch 271. HOLLAND, William Murray KOREA William was born on April 7, 1927 in Moose Jaw, SK. On January 5, 1948, he joined the Canadian Army’s Active Force, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and he married Laura Curtis on July 1, 1949. He left for Korea on September 20, 1951 as part of 1st Battalion, PPCLI, (25th Brigade in Korea). He returned to Calgary on October 26, 1952 and was discharged on July 13, 1953. He served in Wainwright AB; Saskatoon and Regina, SK; Borden, ON; and Riversman, Japan and Korea. He and his wife had three children. William did truck driving, then was a Custodial Officer at the Ontario Reform Institution from 1957-1961 and a recreation officer at Calgary’s Spy Hill Correctional Institution from 1961-1979. He and Laura divorced in October 1972 and he married Ethel Draper on August 31, 1974. They moved to St. Paul, AB where he worked at the St. Paul Correctional Centre until he retired. William was a member of RCL Calgary Branch 1 and he passed away on April 20, 1991 at age sixty-four.
