The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 205 HERITY, Frederick Walter “Ted” WWII Ted was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1919. He joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers in 1939 and was posted to Jamaica for his training. He returned to Winnipeg for a brief term and then was sent to Hong Kong. He was wounded (lost his left leg) and was taken prisoner. Ted eventually came home to Winnipeg in 1945 but he found the climate too cold. He moved to Vancouver, British Columbia where he resided with his family until his death in April 1964 at the age of forty-five. He and his father are buried in the military cemetery in Vancouver. It is unknown what medals or ribbons Ted would have received. HETHERINGTON, Ernest William WWI Ernest was born in Worcestershire, England on November 3, 1895. He was with the 29th Light Horse Infantry prior to joining the Army on May 1, 1916 in Lanigan, SK and serving with the 214th Overseas Battalion during World War I. Ernest was single at the time of his enlistment and was living in Colonsay, SK, employed as a barber and engineer. His father is listed as Christopher Hetherington of Worcestershire, England. HETHERINGTON, R. WWII R. Hetherington was born on July 24, 1920 in Kelliher, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in June 1942, served in Canada and the United Kingdom and left the service in June 1946 as Warrant Officer First Class. He married.
