The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 203 HEPP, Mike WWII & SPECIAL DUTY AREA Mike was born in Prud’Homme, SK in 1921 after his parents emigrated from Hungary. He joined the Army in 1942 and served with the Regina Rifles in France, Germany and Holland. He was awarded the France and Germany Star and the Dutch War Medal for the Liberation of Holland. He returned home in 1945 when he met and married Georgina Neelson who had served in CWAC. They raised several children and were very active in their community. Mike and Georgina are presently living in Wieneda Park Lodge. HERITY, Boyd Ashley Thomas WWII Boyd was born in Dropmore, Manitoba in 1922 and lived in the Snowden/Smeaton area for several years. He went to Inland School and then moved to Winnipeg where he met his future wife and they had three children. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1945 in Canada and Newfoundland. He was stationed in Dafoe, SK and Gander, NL. He was awarded the 193945 Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Boyd is now a widower residing in Winnipeg, close to his two sons and his sister, Patience White. HERITY, Frederick G. WWI & WWII Frederick was born in Huntingdon Township, Ontario on August 14, 1889. He joined the military in Red Deer, AB in 1914 and was a member of the “Fighting Fifth”, serving in Canada, England, France and Belgium. He received the Military Medal for bravery and returned to Canada in late 1918/l9 with his wife and daughter. Frederick became a grain buyer and had many postings to various small towns on the prairies. Finally, he homesteaded on a land grant from the Federal Government in Saskatchewan’s Snowdon/Smeaton area. He joined the military again during World War II and was posted to Camps Borden and Petawawa, Ontario. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for his service in the Second World War. Frederick was a member of RCL North Vancouver Branch and he passed away in Vancouver, BC in April 1967.
