The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 175 HALL, Reginald Jack WWII Jack was born on April 28, 1918 in Tunstead, Norfolk, England. He enlisted in England’s Royal Engineers on March 17, 1940 and served six years in the United Kingdom, Italy and North Africa. He was wounded twice: once by shrapnel in his bottom lip and once in his left leg. He left the service in Aldershot as Lance Corporal on September 9, 1946 and took up plumbing and pipefitting. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in Saskatoon as a plumber and pipefitter. In 1956, he joined the Saskatchewan Government as gas inspector for the Department of Labour and he worked in Saskatoon until his retirement. He married and had two sons. Jack joined the British Legion first and when he came to Saskatoon, joined RCL Nutana Branch 362 and has a 40-year membership medal. He is active in his church, in the Legion and as a golfer. HAMBLETON, R.A. WWII R.A. Hambleton was born in Brandon on May 28, 1916. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Engineers and was a Sergeant when he left the service. He married. HAMEL, Robert C. WWII Robert was born in Haverhill, SK on May 25, 1923. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served in Newfoundland, the United Kingdom and on the high seas on HMCS Lauzon. In St. John’s, he was in charge of incoming messages from ships at sea and worked in what he calls the south side SD. He volunteered for Pacific service, took training in Newfoundland, then the war ended and le left the service as a Telegrapher on September 25, 1945. After the war, he worked as a carpenter in CPR construction and maintenance, was with Federal Grain Ltd. and was self-employed in construction. He was active in the Legion at Govan and Strasbourg, served as president at Govan and with boys’ hockey and girls’ softball. He married and had one son and three daughters.
