The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 173 HALEN, John WWII John was born on September 17, 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and trained as a navigator. He was posted to RAF 408 Squadron after training in airborne radar and flew as a navigator and radar operator on Beaufighter and Mosquito aircraft. He injured a leg in a landing accident and spent six months in an RAF hospital. On November 6, 1945, he left the service as a Warrant Officer First Class. He married and had one son and two daughters. John attended the college of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan for two years and worked for an engineering firm for six years. After that, he was self-employed in insurance for eleven years and then became an auditor for Revenue Canada. He served in Milden Legion Branch 269 for six years as secretary-treasurer and two years as president. He also served six years on the Milden town council and has been active in baseball, hockey and the Chamber of Commerce. HALIKOWSKI, E. WWII E. Halikowski enlisted on October 11, 1940 and served with the Saskatoon Light Infantry. He left the service on November 11, 1946. HALL, Jim WWII Jim was born in Regina, SK on June 29, 1922. He enlisted in the Artillery (RCA) in September 1940 and was only eighteen when he got to Britain in 1941 and was posted to a British anti-aircraft battery in London during the blitz. He served for two years with the British artillery in the United Kingdom and went to Northwest Europe with the Canadian Army in a field artillery battery. He was a Gunner when he left the Army in Regina on November 5, 1945 and he took his first postwar job with Canada Packers in Winnipeg, NB. Soon after, he joined Canadian Linen Supplies, worked with them as a salesman for twentyfive years and then was with Unitog, a uniform supply company, until his retirement. He married and had one daughter. Jim has spent most of his free time with the Legion, is a Life Member and has held most of the positions available in the branch, including president, district commander and as well as served on many branch committees.
