The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 15 ANDREW, Walter Harold “Sonny” WWII Sonny was born on June 19, 1914 to Oliver and Lillian (LaFrenière) Andrew and was a farmer in Maymont, Saskatchewan when World War II broke out. He enlisted in Ontario and served as a Trooper with the South Alberta Regiment. Sonny was killed in action on September 18, 1944 and is interred in the Adegem Canadian War Cemetery, which is situated along the road from Maldegem to Eeklo in the province of East Flanders, Belgium. His geo-memorial is Andrew Lake, in northern Saskatchewan. ASHMEAD, Colin Brown WWII Colin was born in Simpson, Saskatchewan in 1912. He joined the Army in July 1940 in Regina and served for forty-five months as a cook with 8 General Hospital C.A.S.F. in Canada, England, Holland, and Germany. He received the Dutch Medal, Thank You Canada, as well as other regular war medals. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion at two branches for a total of fortynine years, at the Melfort Branch 30 and Pleasantdale, SK Branch 227. Colin died in 1995. AUBIN, Antonio WWI Antonio was born in Sainte-Sophie, QC on December 29, 1897. He enlisted in Regina, SK on June 5, 1918 and served overseas with 12 M.D. 1 Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. Antonio was a farmer from Viscount, SK and his father’s name was Wilfred, also originally from Sainte-Sophie, QC.
