The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 161 GRAY, Robert H. WWII Robert was born in Clair, Saskatchewan on June 26, 1916. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in June 1940 and served in Canada and Alaska. He left the service in 1945. Robert married. GRAY, William George “Bill” WWII Bill was born on September 16, 1918 in Leney, SK. He was a grain buyer for Federal Grain before joining the RCAF on February 23, 1942. He trained as a bomb aimer and was posted to an RAF squadron in the UK. He was NCO bomb aimer in RAF Bomber Squadron 100 flying over Germany when on his first operational flight, the bomber crashed and the entire crew was taken prisoner. He was POW at Stalag IVB in Germany from November 18, 1943 to April 23, 1945. Back in Canada, he was commissioned as Pilot Officer then left the service in August 1945. He was parts man in Melfort, SK then a salesman in Saskatoon and then department manager for an auto dealer. Bill was married with five daughters and one son. He retired, lived for six years in Comox, BC then returned to Saskatoon. He has been treasurer of 602 Lynx Wing of the RCAF Association and a member of 888 Wing RCAF Association as well as a member of RCL Melfort, Comox and Nutana branches. GRAYDON, Francis K. WWII Francis was born on April 19, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in July 1942 and served on the Atlantic until his discharge in September 1945. Francis has been a member of RCL Shellbrook Legion Branch 111 for 42 years.
