The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 131 FRASER, A.L. WWII A.L. Fraser was born in Manitoba in 1909. He enlisted in 1942 and served in Northwest Europe during World War II. He was a Sergeant in the Army when he left the service in 1946. FRASER, Alex WWII Alex was born on March 6, 1925 in Winnipeg, MB. He enlisted on September 22, 1942 and served on the high seas on HMCS Frontenac (corvette), HMCS Edmundston (corvette), HMCS Wentworth (frigate), and HMCS Fort Francis (mine sweeper). Corvette duty meant escorting convoys carrying supplies to and from Newfoundland and Ireland, across some 2,000 miles of rough seas with the ever present problem of German U-boat wolf packs. He later volunteered for Pacific service and was at St. Hyacinthe, QC when the war ended. He was discharged there on October 8, 1945 as an Able Seaman. After the war, Alex worked as a clerk-secretary for DVA, the CNR, and the CPR and in 1952, moved to Saskatoon to become assistant city clerk for the city and later a senior planner. He has been active in the Elks and RCL Nutana Branch 362. Alex married and had four sons. FRASER, D.G. WWII D.G. Fraser was born on June 12, 1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He enlisted in January 1943 and served with the Royal Canadian Navy in Canada and on the high seas, on the Atlantic during World War II. He left the service on December 16, 1945 as Stoker 1. He was married.
