The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 127 FORBES, D.F. WWII D.F. Forbes was born on December 23, 1915 in Lloydminster, AB. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in March 1943 and served in World War II on the high seas on the North Atlantic and the Pacific. He left the service on March 1, 1946 as Stoker 1. He married. FORD, Robert W. “Bob” WWII Bob was born on August 27, 1914 at Goldendale in the state of Washington, USA. He enlisted in Regina, SK on June 26, 1940 and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in the United Kingdom before going to Dieppe where he was wounded. He spent some time in Horley, England in a hospital built and equipped by the United States and turned over to Canada. It was completely filled by wounded from Dieppe by August 19 and 20, 1942. Bob was a Private when he left the service in the UK on April 24, 1944. He married and had two sons and one daughter. He was a farmer before the war and afterwards, worked as dairy herdsman for the University of Saskatchewan. FOREST, Thad PEACETIME Thad was born in Poland on February 21, 1929. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in February 1952 and served in the Regular Forces until September 1974. He served as air navigator and on several ground assignments, including chief administrative officer, navigation school instructor and with Canadair testing. He left the service as Captain after twenty-two years of serving in peacetime and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration and Bar. He married and separated after two sons and two daughters. Thad has worked as a school teacher, salesman, bankruptcy officer and with Corrections Canada. He has been active in his church as committee chairman, as president of his curling club, as sports day organizer and with Lions International.
