The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 107 FARKAS, Albert WWI Albert was born in Kisújszállás, Hungary on March 1, 1897. He came to Canada in 1909 with his parents, Albert and Julianna Farkas. He farmed prior to being drafted in the Army in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 22, 1918, serving with 12 M.D. 1st Depot Battalion of the Saskatchewan Regiment. After his discharge in 1918, he took a course in gas motors and worked at the University of Saskatchewan’s Farm Department. He then operated a service station in Plunkett, SK and he ran a movie theatre and a café before retiring. He married Irene Szakacs and raised three children. FARKAS, Andrew WWII Andrew served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II. His brother, Albert, served in WWI. FARRAR, W.J. WWII W.J. Farrar was born on June 3, 1925 in Bell Island, Newfoundland. He enlisted in July 1943 and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada. He was a Sergeant when he left the service on February 20, 1944. W.J. married and he recently moved to Edmonton, Alberta.
