Military Service Recognition Book 424 The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command WRIGHT, Leslie Albert WWII Leslie was born in the Montmartre township, Saskatchewan, in 1916. He joined the 1st Canadian Survey RCA, serving in England, Algiers, North Africa, Italy, Belgium, and Holland, and was attached to the 8th Army (Advanced Party Algiers). He passed away in 1999 and received the 193945 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the War Medal, the Volunteer Medal, and the Dutch Medal (posthumously). He had been a member of the Weyburn Branch #47 of The Royal Canadian Legion for over 35 years. WRIGLEY, Alfred WWII Alfred was born in 1913 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and moved with his parents and family to Ditton Park in 1919. He served in the RCA from 19401945. Alfred married Alice Smith at Winnipeg in 1940 before going overseas. They raised two children, Thomas and Evelyn, and moved to Calgary. Alfred is now deceased. WRIGLEY, Thomas WWI In 1904, Thomas came to Canada from Lancashire, England, and settled at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He married Alice in 1911 and filed for a homestead in 1914. Thomas served in the CEF, 46th Battalion overseas from 1915-1918. In 1919, he moved his family to Ditton Park to homestead. Their children were: Alfred, Philip, twins Russell and Wilfred, and Muriel. Thomas passed away in 1965, and Alice passed away in 1973. WRIGLEY, Russell WWII Russell was born in 1921 at Ditton Park and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1946. He married Beatrice Pearson in 1949 and farmed in Ditton Park and raised two children, Wanda and Richard, who attended Arborfield School. Russell and Beatrice retired from farming in 1976 and moved to Melfort. Russell is now deceased.
