Military Service Recognition Book 422 The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command WILSON, Henry WWII Henry was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan, in 1917. He served on a Minesweeper and Corvette in 1940 and took part in the invasion of Europe. He was noted for his drum playing in an orchestra. He moved to the White Fox area in 1939. After the war, he married Stella Oleinik and moved to Quesnel, British Columbia. WIRTH, Theodor “Ted” WWII Ted was born in Neudorf, Saskatchewan, in 1923. He joined the Lorne Scots, serving in England, Holland and Germany. He passed away in 2004 and was a member of the Neudorf and Lemberg Branches of The Royal Canadian Legion when he came to Regina in 1953 until 1960, and was also a member of the DVA. He never missed a Remembrance Day Service, except once when he was in hospital. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, and the 1939-45 War Medal. He also received an extra medal from Holland, which was a big honour. WRIGHT, Frank WWI Frank was born in Wooler, Ontario, on May 15, 1889. He moved with his parents in 1891 to Keys, Manitoba. In 1907, he came to the Armley District to homestead and returned to farm his father’s land in Manitoba until 1917. Frank then joined the Army and served overseas with the Canadian Battalion until the end of the war. He sold his homestead and in December 1921, he married Alma Boice, and they raised six children: Hugh, Bruce, Jim, Bill, Mary and Mabel. WRIGHT, Bruce H. WWII Bruce was born November 26, 1923 in the Leather River District and attended the Leather River School and farmed with his father, Frank Wright. Bruce joined the Army in 1942 in Saskatoon, Service Corps, 2nd Battalion and transferred to the Pictou Highlanders. He was discharged in January 1946, and returned home to continue farming with his brother, Jim, and his father.
