Thomas was from Venn, Saskatchewan, and was Killed in Action on February 18, 1943 at the age of 22. He was with the #409 Night Hawk Squadron, Beaufighter Aircraft # X7893. Lost during an operation over enemy territory. Pilot Officer D. M. McBeath was also killed. Pilot Officer Thomas Briggs is buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery in Kleve, Germany. His vision of a better world took him to unfriendly skies where he met the enemy head on. When a young person dies those left behind can only wonder what might have been. Would he, like his brothers and sister, become a professional? Would he be a community leader? We can only imagine what he gave up for the cause of freedom. The ultimate price.
