The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 293 November 11th is the most memorable day of their year. It is the day they meet to remember the fallen of all the wars and to pay their respect for those who were able to return home. It is the day the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies’ Auxiliary go to the Health Centre to present poppies to the residents and meet to socialize after a memorial service. The Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies’ Auxiliary share many family outings: Christmas parties with potluck suppers, games, and even Santa takes time to join in! They share picnics at Sandy Beach, with games for the kids, ball games, and food, family curling with fun, food and socializing. In March 2000, Saskatchewan Command R.C.L., Ladies’ Auxiliary closed its doors due to lack of interest, lack of members and lack of funds. They could no longer keep up. Locally, they remained an Auxiliary to the local Royal Canadian Legion Branch #351, until March 2003, when they were unable to get anyone to take the executive offices, and general lack of interest generally, so they had to fold. On March 31, 2003, the Ladies’ Auxiliary held their last meeting. They decided to purchase the new bingo machine for the Branch, and then buy supper for the remaining members, which was a final gift from the Ladies’ Auxiliary. The ladies gave the remainder of their funds to the Branch. After adjournment, they went to the Whistle Stop Restaurant for our "Last Supper." After disbanding, a few of the ladies joined the Norquay Branch #351.
