91 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DAVIDSON, Harold R. Harold was born on September 24, 1930 in New Liskeard, ON. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on August 9, 1950 and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment, 2nd Battalion in the United States, the Far East and Continental Europe during the Korean War. He spent a total of six years with the 2nd Battalion earning his Cross Rifles and Paratrooper Wings. During his civilian life, he worked with the handicapped for 10 years at the Ontario Hospital School in Orillia, ON and was a postal employee for 25 years. He was a member of Orillia Legion Branch 34 for 36 years and assisted as a coach with the Royal Canadian Legion sponsored minor ball and hockey leagues for many years. He was a Charter Member of the Canadian Airborne Association’s Barrie, ON Chapter. Harold passed away on December 1, 1997. DAVIS, Frederick Keith Frederick was born in Aurora, Ontario on June 18, 1910. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 15, 1940, and was in charge of all records on RCAF convoys to Britain. He did repeat trips about every three weeks. Frederick was discharged on January 24, 1946. He was a 25-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 426. Frederick passed away on February 14, 1999. DAVIS, George Alvin Born in Scarborough, Ontario, on November 12, 1920, George attended Aurora High School between 1934 and 1939 where he was a member of the cadet corps and a leader in the signaling section attached to the corps. He was a prominent athlete enjoying hockey, softball, baseball, golf, swimming, tennis and football. After school, George started working at Eatons as a Junior in the Executive offices in September 1939. He enlisted in the RCAF (Regular Force) with 52 OTU in November 1940 receiving training at Toronto, Picton, Camp Borden and St. Catherines. George received his wings on October 7, 1941, in Dunville. On February 11, 1942, he was conducting a battle climb exercise piloting Spitfire P9546 with three other spitfires. Davis dropped from formation likely after blacking out due to a failure in his oxygen system. P9546 broke up mid-air. In 1993, and again in 2023, the crash site was investigated, and a number of small fragments were found and conserved.
