373 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WARREN, Harry Alfred Harry was born in North Crosby, Leeds County, Ontario on April 11, 1924. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in 1941 and served in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean and in Europe. He was discharged in 1945 after having served for four years and eleven months. In 1944, Harry received a citation from Field Marshal B. L. Montgomery for outstanding service and great devotion to duty. He was wounded and shrapnel remained with him until he died. Harry was a founding member in organizing Branch 503 of The Royal Canadian Legion in Onaping, becoming its charter President in 1949. He resided in Onaping, Ontario and was a 68-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Onaping Branch 503. Harry passed away on December 30, 2016. WATSON, Harold John Harold was born on May 10, 1887, and had three siblings, James, Ellen and Henry. He served overseas during World War I with the 147th Battalion of the Grey and Simcoe Foresters. Harold was wounded twice and spent many months in a hospital in England including one Christmas. Upon discharge, he took over his parent’s farm. In June 1922, he married Margaret McKechnie, daughter of Neil McKechnie and Mary Burnett, and raised a family of five children, David, Gretta, Wilma, Verna and Robert. Harold passed away on January 4, 1961. WATSON (FULTON), Mary Irene (Renee) Mary was born on May 20, 1923 in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) on October 9, 1942 and served with Eastern Air Command HQ, #1 Group HQ in Newfoundland during World War II. She was released on September 22, 1945. In July 1946, she moved toActon, Ontario and was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch 197 for 54 years. Mary passed away on March 6, 2011.
