31 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BEAUDOIN, George John George was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario, on March 9, 1910, the son of Alexandre and Exilda (Therrien) Beaudoin. Prior to World War II, he worked in a stove foundry in Penetanguishene. In 1934, he married Harriet Eileen Taylor of the nearby village of Fesserton. George enrolled in the Canadian Army with the Grey & Simcoe Foresters in Toronto on April 17, 1941. Private (later Corporal) George Beaudoin sailed from Canada to arrive in the United Kingdom on September 19, 1943. He served overseas with the New Brunswick Rangers and later with the Royal 22e Régiment in the United Kingdom and Central Mediterranean Area until the end of the war. He earned the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal 1939-1945. George returned to Canada to be discharged on December 6, 1945. He returned to Penetanguishene where he lived for the rest of his life. He was a member of the local Royal Canadian Legion Branch 68. George passed away on February 8, 1989. He is buried in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Penetanguishene. BECKER, Roy Willard Roy was born on November 6, 1914, in Waterloo County, to Lauretta (Fried) and Gilbert Becker and stepfather Wilfred Wanner along with eight siblings: Margaret, Myrtle, Ward, Susie, Cleo, Ivy, Reta, and Dorothy. He married Kathleen (Miller) and father of four sons: Wm. Larry, Wallace, Kenneth, and Ronald, and worked as a mechanic in New Dundee. On December 14, 1943, he enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) with the Highland Light Infantry in Galt, completed basic training at Camp Ipperwash. He was sent to England where he spent time as a chauffeur and then to France on March 17, 1945. After crossing the Rhine into Germany on March 31, 1945, he was caught in a bomb blast, becoming dangerously ill due to shell fragments in the abdomen and right leg, taken to England for better medical care and returned to London, Ontario on May 23, 1945. He was discharged on August 25, 1945. His fifth son, Gordon, was born while he was in France, and his sixth and seventh sons were born after the war. He joined the Royal Canadian Legion New Hamburg Branch 532 and accumulated 29 years of service. Bill Becker passed away on February 21, 1993, and is buried at New Dundee Cemetery. BELIWICZ, Kenneth G. Kenneth was born in Toronto on October 23, 1958. He joined the Regular Force inAugust 1976. He completed basic training in November 1976 in Cornwallis, NS and was posted to CFB Trenton from 1977 to 1981. He was promoted to Corporal inAugust 1980; posted to Calgary with 1 CMBG HQ+Sigs in 1981; promoted to Master Corporal in 1984; and posted to 1 Service Battalion in Calgary. He was posted to Base Supply CFB Borden in 1986 and promoted to Sergeant in 1988. From November 1992 to June 1993, he did a UNDOF tour in Golan Heights Observer Force Syria. Upon his return he was posted to CFB Petawawa with 2 CMBG Service Battalion moving to 2 CMBG HQ+Sigs Squadron in 1994, to CF School of Administration and Logistics in CFB Borden in 1997, and to CFB Borden Supply I/C Base Maintenance Supply Group in 1999 until regular force retirement in 2000. His career continued in 2004 as the Logistics MWO with the Cadet Glider School in Trenton. In 2007, he moved to Meaford as the Training Centre Regimental Quartermaster (RQ). In 2009, he became the RQ with the Cadet Training Centre in Blackdown Park until 2012. He completed his DND career as the support Services Manager with Canadian Base Operators in Meaford 2012-2019. Kenneth is a four-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Hanover Branch 130.
